IEEE Student Membership Discount
Submitted by Ron Goldfarb, Magnetics Society Secretary-Treasurer
The IEEE Board of Directors has approved a discount of 50% on student member dues. Students may use the promotion code FUTURE50 during the online check-out process for joining https://www.ieee.org/membership/join/index.html or renewing their IEEE memberships. Students who recently joined or renewed at full price may write to the IEEE Contact Center contactcenter@ieee.org to request a credit on future membership dues.
Ways to Join the Magnetics Society
There are three ways to become a member of the Magnetics Society of the IEEE. Please refer to the explanations below for various membership options.
- Become a Member of the IEEE and add the Magnetics Society by paying the additional society fee.
- If you are already an IEEE member, you can add the Magnetics Society by going to the IEEE home page https://www.ieee.org/membership-catalog/productdetail/showProductDetailPage.html?product=MEMMAG033
- If you do not meet the requirements for full IEEE Membership due to insufficient educational qualification or experience then you can join the IEEE as an Associate Member and add the Magnetics Society as above.
- Become a Student Member https://www.ieee.org/membership-catalog/productdetail/showProductDetailPage.html?product=MEMMAG033 at much reduced rates if you are a student.
- Become an Affiliate of the Magnetics Society. A Society Affiliate is generally a non-IEEE professional who is a member of a professional organization other than IEEE who would benefit from affiliation with one of IEEE's Societies. For an annual Affiliate fee paid to IEEE plus the individual Society's membership dues they are admitted to the membership of that Society. Affiliates are not full IEEE members and are not entitled to any IEEE benefits reserved for IEEE members only. All Affiliate benefits and services derived come directly from the Society they are affiliated with. To join as an Affiliate just click on https://www.ieee.org/membership-catalog/productdetail/showProductDetailPage.html?product=MEMMAG033

* Half year rates apply to new members only
- IEEE membership runs from 1 January through 31 December.
- NEW applications received between 1 March and 15 August will automatically be processed for half-year membership ending 31 December at the half-year dues rates. Exception is when the applicant specifically requests their application be processed for the full year. However, we cannot guarantee availability of back issues of all publications for the first half of the calendar year.
- Membership in IEEE's Technical Societies involves additional dues. See the table below for information on Magnetic Society membership dues.
- All IEEE members are given online access to Potentials magazine as part of their basic IEEE membership. Student members in the U.S. and Canada receive Potentials in print as part of their dues. For Student members from all other countries and for IEEE Higher grade members who wish to receive a print subscription to Potentials, see rates provided below.
