Larissa Panina received her Ph.D. degree from Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia, in 1985.

From 1990 to 1998, she was with Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan, working on fast magnetization switching systems and magnetoimpedance. In 1999, she joined the University of Plymouth, Plymouth, U.K, leading the research on high-performance magnetic sensors and tunable microwave composite materials. Her specialist research experience is in the field of magnetism, electromagnetic sensors, and smart materials.
