The Distinguished Lecturer (DL) Program of the IEEE Magnetics Society is proud to fund six Distinguished Lecturers annually. Each year, three DLs are selected from nominations provided by the membership and serve a two-year term, so that there are six active DLs at all times. These DLs travel around the globe to deliver a minimum of 20 lectures per year upon invitation by local Chapters of the IEEE Magnetics Society, academic institutions, and other research institutions, most of which cover local costs.

Objectives of the DL Program

  • To celebrate achievements in magnetics and to honor the finest researchers and communicators in the field.
  • To provide outreach and to communicate to the wider community the importance of magnetics research and applications in our society.
  • To support Magnetics Society chapter activities by providing high-profile speakers for local meetings.
  • To inspire and excite, especially young researchers entering a career in magnetism.
  • To advertise and promote the Magnetics Society as the society of choice for professionals in magnetism.
  • To promote the trans-national aims of the Magnetic Society.
  • To act as an engine to recruit new members to the Magnetics Society.
