PD Dr. Timo Kuschel is lecturer and scientific coordinator at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. His research interests are spin and orbital transport in thin films and nanostructures, magneto-optics, altermagnetism and advanced synchrotron techniques. He studied physics and received his PhD at Osnabrück University. Afterwards, he worked as a post-doc in the group of Prof. Dr. Günter Reiss at Bielefeld University leading the "Spin Caloritronics Team" and at the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials in Groningen, Netherlands, in the group of Prof. Dr. Bart van Wees. There, he explored new nonlocal spin transport phenomena in magnetic nanostructures. After finishing his habilitation in 2023 at Bielefeld University, he became Substitute Professor before he started his position at the Institute of Physics at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz.
