Magnetics Standards Summit (Virtual)

29 May 2024

The IEEE Magnetics Society founded its Standards Committee last year, with five Technical Subcommittees (Spintronics & recording; Power, energy, machine, and environment; Sensors, communications, instrumentation, and measurement; Materials and phenomena; Bio, interdisciplinary, and emerging topics).

We would like to solicit your thoughts on promising areas of standardization in magnetics. The IEEE MagSoc Standards Committee intends to consolidate suggestions from all five Technical Subcommittees during the virtual event “Magnetics Standards Summit” on 29 May 2024 (Wednesday) at 10:00 AM EST (tentative), and publish the results in a submission to the IEEE Transactions on Magnetics. If your suggestion is included, you will be listed as a co-author.

Format: Virtual (Zoom Link)

Date: 05/29/2024, 10am, EST

Duration: Approximately 3 hours (max: half day). The exact duration depends on the length of the presentation from each Technical Subcommittee.

Agenda:

1.    Opening Remarks (10:00am):

  • Philip Pong, Chair, IEEE Magnetics Society Standards Committee

2.    Keynote address (10:05am):

  • Gary Hoffman, IEEE Standards Association (SA) President-elect (2024).
Title – “How Standards Development can provide opportunities for increased Membership, Revenue and vitality of Societies who start Standard development initiatives within their Society.”
