Miriam Jaafar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Condensed Matter Physics at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) (Spain) and a researcher at the IFIMAC Condensed Matter Physics Center. Her research is focused on the field of Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM), with a particular emphasis on developing new characterization methodologies based on Magnetic Force Microscopy (MFM) to understand new materials phenomena (e.g., low dimensional effects in particular nanoscale magnetic textures). She has led several projects based on the study of the dissipation process and the application of advanced MFM probes and methods for biological samples and low-dimensional systems. Also, she developed nonstandard MFM methods to perform local hysteresis loops or studies of the magnetization process at the nanoscale in individual elements. She has published 60 peer-reviewed papers, many of those in the most prestigious journals in the field. Miriam is well experienced in technology transfer; she has three licensed patents as well as many collaborations with companies. Moreover, she has recently been awarded by the Spanish association of magnetism the Early Career Scientist Prize in the field of Magnetism (2021).
